i need to get my name changed to my married name on my social security card. on the social security web site it says i need 2 ID's one with my maiden name which can be expired and one with my married name that can not be expired, but i cant get my drivers license renewed without changing the name on my social security card. i have to fly out of state next week, my tickets are bought. i cant get on a plane without an id!What if my drivers license with my married name is expired? can i still get my social security card?
A person's Social Security number never changes, whether you are married once, twice, or thrice.

When I married in 1959, I changed my name on my Social Security records to my husband's last name. Twenty-five years later,my husband and I divorced. I did not change my name on my Social Security records, driver's license, etc. I remarried six years ago, and still carry my Social Security records, driver's license, college records, and IRS records in the name I had for 25 years. I have had no problems.

Whoever told you that you ';had'; to get change your original name on your Social Security Card to any other name is mistaken.

Now, if you have assumed your married name on your expired driver's license and have your maiden name on your Social Security card, you may have a problem with identification at an airport facility.

Women think they have to change their last name to the name of their spouse. They don't. You may have backed yourself into a cornerWhat if my drivers license with my married name is expired? can i still get my social security card?
Your marriage license can serve as the other ID. But hurry. You probably can't do it by next week, so take your old driver's license on the plane and keep a copy of your marriage license handy in case they notice the discrepancy between your driver's license and your ticket.
how did you get the license in the first place without your name being legally changed? ....ok that aside, usually social security wants an ID with your former name (drivers license, passport , etc) and a CERTIFIED marriage lisence, make sure it is the actual license taht has the seal imprinted in it andnot the certificate that the church or whatever issued.
