What is an inexpensive way to get married?

Im not talking the courthouse, or something in my backyard. a little ceremony and all, but inexpensive is the key! What is an inexpensive way to get married?
There are many ways to plan an inexpensive wedding. I just got married on June 10 and we spent $6,500 with 110 guests. One of the first people to answer this question said that they were having their wedding in Canada, and it was going to be $85 a plate. Well, I don't consider that to be inexpensive. I also don't think you should skimp on the cake. People love the tradition of the bride and groom feeding each other. You can get wedding cakes for reasonable prices at grocery stores, instead of fancy bakeries. We got ours at Publix and it costs $220, including the delivery fee. It was supposed to feed 75-100 people, but we still had a good amount of cake left. Get family and friends to help you with everything. You can make a lot of things that will save you money. Don't go overboard on flowers, find them cheap at a flea market or do something different for centerpieces (like floating candles). And you could even put together your own bouquets for cheaper. For pictures, a good idea that I've seen on here is to take the bridal party to Glamour Shots before the ceremony, it's a lot cheaper. And then just have someone take pics of the ceremony and the reception with a good digital camera. You could also get a friend to videotape it and make that their gift to you. For food, go with a buffet. This will be your most costly thing. Get some quotes from caterers, tell them your budget and they'll tell you what foods they can serve for that price. If it's still out of your price change, get party platters from restaurants. You could do stuff like wings, eggrolls, chicken fingers, ribs, mashed potatoes, salad, Italian, just about anything. They'll supply you with huge servings of whatever food you want. You would still want to hire some servers to clean up and set up the food. You don't want to worry about that on the big day. And if you're serving alcohol, get a bartender. Letting guests serve themselves can cause a big mess. Buy your alcohol and sodas when they're on sale. You could even serve only beer and wine to save more money. For wedding favors, shop around on the internet, then check out Ebay for the same items and compare prices. I found the same exact stuff on there for cheaper than other websites. They also sell wedding invitations which is how I found mine. You could also have the ceremony and reception at someone's house or a park. We did ours at a park overlooking the water, and they had a hall that we rented for the reception. You can also check out VFW halls and places like that, they tend to be cheaper. If you do decide to do it at someone's house, you can get away with setting up a stereo for entertainment. But if you go with a bigger place, you may want to spend money on a DJ. We paid $900 for 4.5 hours, but I'm in Florida and it seems like everything costs more down here. Also, David's bridal has cheap wedding dresses. I got mine at Dillard's, but we had an informal wedding. And always ask around, you never know what someone knows how to do, or if they know someone that will hook you up with a better price (like a DJ, photographer, caterer, bartender, etc.). We scored our photographer and our caterer that way and we saved a bunch of money. One more thing, we hired two high school girls that were in band to play the flute before and during the ceremony. The best $80 I ever spent. My mother-in-law knew them from her neighborhood and they were great (see - you got to ask around). I've also heard of people hiring high school bands to provide their musical entertainment at the reception for very cheap. Good luck! What is an inexpensive way to get married?
vegas
Just have the wedding right there in your trailer park!
Down in Alabama Town.
I got married 2 years ago and mine cost $8000. That incluedes everything even the rings. As for your parents paying for it, unless they are rich, then good luck with that. You can get a dress pattern and make it yourself for way less. Get fake silk flowers instead of real ones, and get a location that is already decorated.

Or you can just go to the Bahamas and pay $2000 and get married at Sandals Beach and Resort everything is included there too. Hope this helps.

Whatever you decide. Do your research.
';....I'm not talking the courthouse...'; LOL that's funny. when I asked people for money saving techniques when it came to planning my wedding, that's what they suggested. I think not! anyway...our wedding is 5/26/07 and we've found lots of ways to make things less expensive. we've bought a ton of stuff on e-bay- i got all my centerpieces for $1/each and they're gorgeous! floating candle holders. also you can get flowers, tulle, cake slicers and toppers, champagne stuff there- way cheaper than in stores. as far as the ceremony itself, is there a pretty place outside you can have it? a gazebo in the park or something? many park systems will allow people to be married in their parks for free. no guarantee on the weather of course but that's a risk some people (including me!) are willing to take. there's always vegas too LOL...and since you get good travel discounts, the beach! who needs to decorate the beach, right? and there's the honeymoon right there. uh, let's see...you can print your own invitations relatively inexpensively and as far as dresses, many bridal shops have sales they don't advertise, or they sell discontinued dress styles pretty cheap. try wholesale stores for favors, decorations, flowers even veils, gloves, jewelry etc.! if you are brave, it's not too hard to do your own flowers actually! if you know people who like to cooK (and do it well) you could ask them to donate their services for the reception as a wedding gift- as far as that goes, my fiance's uncle is a photographer and will be doing our wedding as the gift. but many budding photographers (check local colleges) are willing to do weddings for a discount to gain experience. and...start buying stuff now gradually so that when the time comes it's not overwhelming to buy ALL the napkins, plates, favors, etc. wow have I said enough yet?? hope at least some of this helped, good luck! oh, also (LOL) you can buy a small wedding cake, just a couple tiers and have a sheet cake hidden away somewhere to actually feed people with. forgot that one :-)
I run a wedding board on MSN communities. It's all brides discussing issues, concerns, problems etc. They're helpful, informative and supporting. If you're a bride to be, would you be interested in joining?? There's roughly 200 brides in there now.

St. Augustine Florida - the Amore Wedding Chapel - cute, tropical locale, historic and very reasonable
Get married at a friends house if you have any who have large beautiful ones...or get married in a local park, big garden, weddings around nature are always beautiful...as far as the other aspects of the wedding goes, go to the DOLLAR TREE ...you can make gorgeous center peices out of wine glasses, and candles that they supply, they have them little bubble jars for everyone to have...so much you could do, just be creative...
go to las vegas
make your parents pay for the whole thing, thats how
You will have to do your homework... search the net for ideas We got married above a vintage ice cream parlor.. I Ask everyone I knew about a Delicious inexpensive caterer and found one.. the mayor of the town married us.. we ask a friend to play his guitar during ceremony.. and as guest were arriving.. I grew wild flowers for center pieces.. made my own gown.. and made all the favors.. went into many party stores and found beautiful wedding plates, napkins.. etc on sale at great prices.. On Monday we will celebrate our 2nd anniversary and you can view our wedding pic's at http://www.geocities.com/cinsaint1/weddi鈥?/a> This is both of ours 2nd marriage... it was a small intimate affair.. everyone had a great time... My daughter was my maid of honor and my husbands best man was his uncle.. Good luck with yours
Why not go to a nice natural park and exchange your vows there. My fiance and I are actually getting married on a Sunday, less expensive, over a long weekend here in Canada - May 20/07. At this hotel they have a nice gazebo where we will marry and then take some pics outside. Afterwards we will go into the hotel and have the reception. Although only a tiny wedding with about 50 on the guest list this hotel is treating us as if we were royalty and it is pretty inexpensive compared to others. Although my fiance is looking after most of the details here I think it is around $85 per plate to serve guests and as long as they are eating wine will be supplied by white gloved waiters.

Seeing how you have connections with the airlines then perhaps for a honeymoon you can visit our fine country - Canada, and take in some of the spectacular sights that we have to offer. Sure there are lots of things to do that could cost an arm and a leg but you can also drive and see mother nature at her finest and all for the price of gas.

Best of luck with your wedding preparations. Sorry if I went on a little of a tangant about our wedding rather than directly answering your question but thought it may be an option you could investigate also.
Marry me. I'll pay.
go to the justice of peace and get married it don't cost a whole lot

CUT CORNERS!

I paid $6000 for my wedding, the whole thing and we entertained and fed 350-400 people. It was fun and BEAUTIFUL! Skimp on the cake, no one really cares about that anymore, by flowers that are in season, and buy your dress on sale. We also did not serve a meal, but we chose Hors De Voures (or however you spell that) that made people think they were eating a meal......or you could get married in the evening and not serve a meal at all. Also, Friday wedding can be much less expensive. Or, you could go to Niagara Falls.
you can elope....or some place offer elopment packages...my friend is doing that...it cost $3,000 for everything....and she invited 25 people. small but cheap....the important thing is that your getting married...that's huge!
Elope! Or, just have a small ceremony and reception and do the food, decorations %26amp; flowers. yourself.
get married on a beach under the sunset
Get a priest, and a cake, ask your family members to bring all the food they have. For invitations call everyone you know. Have it sweet and buy choclates. For the band get a radio .But if you really love that person so much ,you will not mind how the wedding is but the person you are going to live the rest of your life with.
COURTHOUSE!!!
Lake Tahoe is beautiful, there are so many chapels all over, and the setting is gorgeous.

My boyfriends dad just got married at Harvey's and it was so nice. It wasn't a cheesy Vegas/Elvis wedding either.
Las Vegas?? have a themed wedding, hire clingons, elvis - whatever?!
