I just joined the Army and is married. What will all my pay be starting as a E-3?

I know I get 1169.00 for being a E-3. And the BAH for 1143.00. And BAS 337.00. Is this all your entitled to? I thought you were entitled to more when married with a family...I just joined the Army and is married. What will all my pay be starting as a E-3?
nope. the only thing you get is BAH at the with dependent rate. doesn't matter if you have a spouse or a spouse and ten kids, the amount is the same.. based on paygrade and zip code of Duty station( wife's location while you are in Basic and AIT).

also you do NOT GET BAS while in the barracks.. so not while in basic and AIT. BAS is only paid out when you are not being provided your meals by the Military.I just joined the Army and is married. What will all my pay be starting as a E-3?
1. You ask if your starting pay will be as an E-3,

No you will start as an E-1, unless you met one of the requirements for advanced enlistment rank.

Being married doesn't effect rank at all.

2. While in basic, your pay is based on enlistment rank.

Base pay :

E-1 - $1,295

E-2 - $1569

E-3 - $1650

If married, you will collect BAH, based on where your wife lives.

Anywhere from $650 to $2,000 a month.

You do not collect BAS while in Basic and AIT.

The only thing you get extra for being married, is about $100 more BAH every month, than a single soldier gets.

You get BAH at the with dependents rate.
Yes and no. Your numbers are not up to date.

You get $1649 base pay for E-3, BAH depends on where you live, but $1143 sounds about right. BAS is $337. that is right. That is all you get unless you go on airborne status or go to combat, in which case you get $150 to $300 more. You don't get BAS in Basic Training either, but you get separation pay, which is like $250. You do not get BAS or BAH when you have a family, or are living in a Barracks at your permanent duty station. You get food and shelter instead. You also don't get BAH if you live in Army family housing. Also, if you get BAH, it will probably be less when you get to your duty station, bacuase the cost of living will probably be less there.

You were expecting more than that?
Dude, you enlisted in the Army. The key being ENLISTED. You don't get that much when you start. What I don't get is why you are being paid so little for being an E-3. In the Marines (which is what I'm in) you get around $1400 as a private.
dont be greedy. think about somebody with your training in the civilian world. You are getting overpaid with all your benefits
That's when you finish your service and become a Veteran. Don't worry you'll make it...
662.00 a week you are doing better than most.
Bye Ron...
