The details depend on which state or province you live in.

In most US states you first get your marriage license, then you go to the courthouse, stand in front of a judge, and say your vows. Each US state has different requirements and specifications for issuing the license; google ';Getting married in (your state)'; for further details.

In some smaller communities you have to call the courthouse first and see if there's a judge or JP on duty; in larger cities you can usually just show up, but at this time of year calling ahead is still a good idea.

In most places you must be stone cold sober and in sound mind to get married, and in some places you have to wait a certain amount of time (usually 24 hours to 3 days) in between getting the license and having the ceremony.

Beware, though, if you're in Canada: too many Canadians get their wedding ideas from American TV and expect they can be married at the courthouse. In most provinces and territories this is not possible. In Alberta, for instance, you must be married either by a permanent registered secular marriage commissioner (hit the Yellow Pages to find one) or a permanent registered clergyperson (ditto). Judges and JPs can't perform weddings unless they've registered to do so, and few do. Often there's a marriage commissioner at the local City Hall, but call first - some places don't even have that. How do you go about getting married at court instead of at church!!! the none fancy ?
depends on where you live. I myself am getting married on tuesday in a courthouse in Lake Village, Arkansas. in that state, you can basically make a snap decision to get married. they do not require a blood test, they do not have a 3 day waiting period (like most states) and the cost is $58 for a wedding license and an additional $40 for the Justice of Peace to perform the ceremony. you can look online, just google your city and state + marriage license. or just call up your local courthouse and ask for the details.
You can go down to your city county office to get your license. They can walk you through the rules and process of obtaining a magistrate to perform your wedding for you. You can look it up online for the process for the county you live in. HTH %26amp; GL
Call city hall and make an inquire.Actually our judges here are so busy they really don't do marriage ceremonies anymore.Check with the court house or city hall.
Get a marriage license and then schedule an appointment at City Hall to do so.
