I'm married to a Canadian and applied for my resident visa in June and it's still being processed. On top of that Our daughter was born in Canada. So getting married is silly, unless you really want to be with them. Don't do it just because you think it will help you get to Canada because I can assure you that it won't. The wait on visas are at least 3 months and can take up to a year, so start your application papers.
