US citizen married with a non resident alien, living abroad: how to file tax?

If I'm a US citizen, married with a non resident alien, both always have lived abroad, how do I have to file tax? Do I have to file tax jointly with her? Do we file taxes on her abroad income, that doesn麓t have any relations with USA?US citizen married with a non resident alien, living abroad: how to file tax?
NO ONE is required to file jointly. You have two options:

a) Like every married person, you have the absolute right to file as ';married filing separately';. If you do this, you will be taxed only on your income, NOT hers.

b) If you and your spouse both agree to do this, you MAY CHOOSE to file jointly; if you do so, then you will be taxed on ALL her income. UNLESS you make this VOLUNTARY CHOICE, you do not pay tax on her income.US citizen married with a non resident alien, living abroad: how to file tax?
Actually you have two options -

1. Married filing sep.

2. Married filing jointly but then spouse needs an ITTN which can be obtained from the IRS -

But if you are married you can not claim single, so be carefule there! If your spouse will make it to our shores shortly you can ammend tax
